Artists from Across the Americas Commemorate
75 years after the Haitian Massacre with an
International Premiere Performance

(New York, NY- August 25, 2012) – Artists from across the Americas are coming together to breathe life to a tragedy long forgotten, and for some, a tragedy they never knew took place. On Saturday, August 25 from 7-9pm, “An Evening of Monologues in Remembrance of the Haitian Massacre” will be performed at Bailout Theater at Judson Memorial Church (55 Washington Square South, New York, NY). Admittance is a $10 suggested donation. This fundraiser will support events taking place on October 5 and 6 in Dajabón, Dominican Republic to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the massacre, as well as strengthen the work being done on the ground around the Haitian and Dominican border. Activities on the border will include a presentation of this performance.

A collection of powerful and poignant monologues will feature the work of writers from as far as British Columbia and Austin, Texas to as close as Boston, D.C. and New York City. Writers are France-Luce Benson, Magaly Colimon-Christopher, Kathleen Gonzales, Shareen Knight, Patrick Mombrun, Rebecca Osborne, Martha Patterson and Christine Suero. Performances by Paule Aboite, Tammi Cubilette, Juliette Jeffers, Antonio David Lyons, Francis Mateo, Angela Polite and Christine Suero.
