Lately, we have been seeing a resurgence of "ugly sweaters". After a recent girl chat with close friends, I became acquainted with the idea of "Ugly Sweater Parties" during the holidays. I inquired if it were a charity event (which is still a good idea!) but found it was simply a way to get creative and have fun!
While we are all for having fun and promoting social connection here at B.A.F.F.L.E.D., the ugly sweater thing brings a bit of a bother when it gets serious. Are you really going to wear this?!? The L.A. Times and Wall Street Journal have reported on the rising popularity of "ugly sweaters" during the Christmas season as an actual fashion trend. Thrift stores have even reported being sold out of the garments faster than usual. The question here, I suppose is "who determines ugly?".
