MLK & AKA: An Endless Commitment to Service
82 years ago today, our world was blessed with one of the most amazing men we'd ever encounter. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was born, and ready to take the world by storm. King made endless sacrifices, taught all who would listen, and effected change like no other. From organizing marches, to stand-ins, the King changed the struggles of America, and showed us what true love, dedication, determination, strength are about.
Today we honor Dr. King on his birthday. We not only honor his work, but his dream of love and service to one another. Reach out to someone today, and keep the dream alive. Share yourself, your talents, and strive to make a difference in the world around you. He did.

Today we also honor the women of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. As a proud member of this illustrious organization, I would be lacking if I did not honor the sisterhood which means so much to me. Founded by Ms. Ethel Hedgeman Lyle and 19 other wonderful women at Howard University in 1908, AKA has personified sisterhood, service, education, and leadership-- day after day for 103 years.
This organization set the tone for later sororities to come, and continues to be a beacon in the community. We thank the 20 Pearls (founders) for their example, and do our best to continue living the purpose.
