Happy Father's Day!

Today we celebrate the wonderful men in our lives many call "daddy".  Because of somethings we face in our world, fathers often don't get the recognition they deserve.  We're here to say we appreciate the real men out there who serve as role models, work hard, and stand as true fixtures in the lives of their children.

Father's Day was first celebrated in Washington state 101 years ago today, just 2 years after the first Mother's Day.  Arkansas native Sanora Smart Dodd sparked the celebration of Father's Day to honor her single father of 6-- being inspired by Anna Jarvis' idea for Mother's Day.  After having unofficial support from Presidents Wilson and Coolidge, it was President Lyndon B. Johnson who established the 3rd Sunday in June as a national holiday honoring the dads.  National recognition began in 1972.

Both little boys and girls need fathers in their lives, and for those answering the call, we say "thank you".  You're making a difference in our future and are appreciated.
