Summertime Chi....The Final Destinations!

This week we are closing out our Summertime Hot Spot Series.  But, no worries...B.A.F.F.L.E.D. Loves Chicago will return when the temperature drops to make sure you don't get cabin fever.

A million thanks to Anne Szkatulski, Emily DeYoe, and Cathy Yu --fellow legislative attorneys and Chicago enthusiasts-- for their major contributions to this series.

NORTH CENTER

Restaurants

Browntrout. 4111 N Lincoln Ave.
Amazing contemporary American!

Other

Powell’s Bookstore. 2850 N Lincoln Ave.
Favorite used bookstore. Also love the one in Hyde Park but that one has less fiction and more nonfiction/academic stuff.

LINCOLN SQUARE

Restaurants

Rosded. 2308 W Leland Ave.
Not favorite all around, but favorite when I feel like take out comfort Thai food. My Thai friends say it’s more like home cooked Thai food which is why it’s their favorite.

Paprika Indian Gourmet. 2547A W Lawrence Ave.
Favorite all around Indian food because the chef cooks things to Perfection…meat with the perfect texture.

Restaurant Sarajevo. 2701 W. Lawrence Ave.
Meat-fest. So good!

Taqueria Santa Ria. 2752 West Lawrence Ave.
Delicious authentic tacos, really cheap too!

Bistro Campagne. 4518 N. Lincoln.
French, lovely, expensive.

LM. 4539 N Lincoln Ave.
Contemporary American, love their brunch

Spoon Thai. 4608 N Western Ave.
Favorite Thai place in the city. Their “standard” spicy is extra spicy though, so you have to specifically ask them to tone it down.

The Grind. 4613 N Lincoln Ave.
Favorite café in our neighborhood

Pannenkoeken Café. 4757 N Western.
Dutch Pancakes, favorite before-work breakfast. Savory pancakes!

Chicago Brauhaus. 4732 N Lincoln Ave.
Good German food, great polka dancing.

San Soo Gab San. 5247 N Western Ave.
Korean BBQs are all sort of the same type of awesome deliciousness, but this one wins because they speak English and the space is the nicest.

IRVING PARK

Restaurants

Ruby’s Fast Food, 3740 W. Montrose
Best Filipino food, better than Isla Philipina. Not fast food, not sure why it’s called that.

ALBANY PARK

Restaurants

Prince Creperie. 4645 N Kedzie Ave.
Great crepes, but wear crappy clothes b/c they will smell like rancid oil by the time you leave.

Baghdad Café. 3200 W Lawrence Ave.
Amazing and cheap meat-fest. Where all the cab drivers go. Delicious lamb.

Pupuseria Restaurant Cuscatleco. 3125 W Lawrence Ave.
El Salvadorian pancakes, greasy goodness!

AVONDALE

Restaurants

Urban Belly. 3053 N California Ave.
Delicious fresh ramen.

Joong Boo Market., 3333 N Kimball Ave.
Tiny little café in the grocery store, awesome Korean food.

Kuma’s Corner. 2900 W. Belmont
ED: Worth the wait.
CY: Amazing burgers. Sit at bar to avoid wait. Bacon mac and cheese overrated though.

Hot Doug’s. 3324 N California Ave.
Gourmet hot dogs. Worth maybe an hour wait in the spring and fall, worth maybe 15 minute wait in the winter or summer. You will always have to wait in a around the corner line here though.

NORTH PARK

Restaurants

Tre Kronor. 3258 W. Foster
Swedish brunch place, les homey than Svea with nicer (but not necessarily better) food.
