Top 5 Uses for Cinnamon--

Not too long ago, we gave you recipes for beauty products you can make at home.  Many of them are created with things you'd have in your cabinets anyway.  Today, we're sharing 5 uses for cinnamon--both health and beauty.  It might seem like an unlikely source for so many positive uses, but it's clearly something you should have in your stock.

1.  A healthy substitute for sugar

Cinnamon has its own sweet taste, and is a good option for sweetening in place of sugar. Of course, sugar is a favorite, but if you deal with diabetes, or want to be careful of your sugar intake, swap it out for cinnamon in dishes like oatmeal, sweet potatoes, and other similar items--even coffee.  It is also a great remedy for the flu and indigestion.

2.  Breath freshener
Toothpaste should be the real standard here, but as another option, gargling warm cinnamon water can give you the fresh breath you need to keep you going.  You can also chew a cinnamon stick if you have them.

Now for some beauty-related uses...

3.  Hair growth aid

In addition to our hair health tips, using cinnamon in a hair mask can be helpful to sparking longer locks.  We definitely suggest checking with your doctor if you have sensitive skin, but dabbing just a little cinnamon (preferably cinnamon oil) on the hair follicle can prove to help grow and thicken hair.  It stimulates your follicles and sparks the locks you'll love.

4.  Scrub for dry skin

Dry skin can be a pain, but having cinnamon in your cabinet can help.  Adding cinnamon to a mixture of honey, sea salt, olive oil, and almond oil is a great way to get the dry skin cells off your beautiful skin.

5.  Acne-fighting face mask

Acne sucks.  But, you can fight it, and cinnamon can help. Along with these skincare tips, applying a cinnamon mask can work wonders.  Mix about 3 tablespoons of honey with a teaspoon of cinnamon.  Leave it on your face for about 10 minutes, then rinse.  The mixture will fight the acne-producing bacteria on your face, while restoring moisture at the same time.

We hope these help!
