We are always excited to support and promote cool projects, especially those in Chicago. The Southside Blooms project is both! Not only are they taking over once vacant spaces and giving them life, but they're spreading joy and vibrance with their beautiful blooms.
This social impact project is unique and inspirational.

Southside Blooms is a farm-to-table florist, providing unique and fashion forward arrangements for events, weddings, online orders, and pop up markets while providing jobs for at risk youth and young adults in some of Chicago's toughest neighborhoods (see the type of youth partnerships we build in this NBC news video clip). Our urban chic designs draw from the resources and creative inspiration of the inner city– where all our blooms are grown. We call our flowers "beyond-organic" because we use ZERO pesticides, herbicides, or synthetic fertilizers while these toxic chemicals are standard for the rest of the industry. Our farms convert vacant lots into off grid flower farms using solar powered rainwater irrigation systems and creating jobs for at risk youth in Chicago's inner city neighborhoods.
Southside Blooms is a project of the Chicago Eco House, a 501c3 nonprofit with a mission of using sustainability to alleviate poverty. 100 percent of our monies go directly towards fulfilling this mission. That means every flower purchase from Southside Blooms creates more jobs for at-risk youth, converts more vacant lots into safe and productive community assets, and directly reduces the negative impacts of climate change through regenerative farming practices.
